Sweet land of liberty for July

This is my July section of the quilt for the Sweet Land of Liberty quilt along hosted by Lori at Humble Quilts. I really liked doing the fish block. I decided to add a table cloth for the flower pot background.

All the stars are assembled.

I sewed everything together and then took another look at a finished quilt and saw that I jumped the gun and assembled it without adding another strip between the stars and blocks. But it will not be unsewed. I will improvise later! I left the stars off of the victory block. I think the table cloth is busy and I don't think the stars will add anything. I like the clean look of this one.

These are not the same width. What else is new. Ha.

I think I should have used a darker fabric for the Liberty word. But it looks okay in person. I might add a heart, star or ball to the top of the flagpole. Seems like it's missing something. What do you think?

  1. Love your fish block. The tablecloth is a nice touch. It really accents your basket. I love the sunflowers too. I'm having fun with quilt but I'm also looking forward to having it complete.

  2. It is fun to see a lighter version of this quilt than we usually see. Your colors look wonderful together. I agree with you that it was better to leave the stars off the victory bowl block, and I like how you made a table cloth for the bowl. Your quilt will be beautiful!

  5. OH my goodness, this section is gorgeous! I love the red face on the fish! I love the table cloth idea! That adds so much!

I do wish I had done my background in two different colors. There is a slight difference, but I am loving everyone else's. That's ok. I am very happy with my section anyway.
