GOOD FORTUNE MYSTERY PART 6

Here's my Great Wall of Grays for Part 6 of Bonnie Hunter's Good Fortune Mystery Quilt.
As usual you can view other quilters' progress if you wish by clicking the link above.
I will check it out over the next couple of days.
So here are my pieced strips they were pretty fast to make. I don't use the paper method because I don't like peeling papers off. I just stitch a bunch of strips together and then crosscut them. It saves me time and mess. We've got to be getting close to the assembly portion of the instructions. I hope!

Do you want the instructions? They are free! Just go to Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville.com blog
I put them in the box with the rest of the previous units. This box is getting full.  I still have a ton of fabric left.  I wonder what road Bonnie is going to take us down next.

Midnight Clear quilted

Trying to show the quilting here.

I enlarged this quilt pattern maybe a little too much. It quilted out super fast.

I only went through 2 bobbins for this quilt. I was using bottom line from Superior. The bobbin holds a lot more thread. Less stopping. I'm going to bind it with this same black fabric.

The thread is a light green color.

This is the whimsical fabric on the back it's also flannel. So soft. You can't even see the thread here.

Secret Santa Finshed

The quilting blends right in.

I used a variegated green for the top thread.

I used the same Santa fabric for the binding.

I used a dark green thread on the back. Swirls and snowflake pattern.

Good Fortune Mystery Part 4

I am using Yellow for Part 4 of Bonnie Hunter's -Good Fortune Mystery quilt.
She gives the instructions freely. You can check it out at-https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2018/12/mystery-monday-link-up-part-4.html
If you click on the link above it will take you to everyone's different versions of this project.
I just write the directions down in a spiral bound notebook and decorate it a little.

Here are my units for part 4 all finished.

I really like yellow but almost never use it in my quilts. That's why I'm using it in this quilt. I just have so much of it. I used what ever small amount of yellow scraps I had laying around and then I just cut strips out of fat quarters for the rest.

They are living in the box with their neighbors. They need to get acquainted with each other because they are going to be together forever. Ha.

Good Fortune Mystery Part 3

I'm staying caught up with Bonnie Hunter's "Good Fortune Mystery Quilt". I cut all of my pieces on Friday and Saturday. Linking up with Quiltville.com on Monday. https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2018/12/mystery-monday-link-up-part-3.html
You can click on the blue link if you would like to see other quilters' progress. You can go to Quiltville.com and go to the blog for free instructions.

I got halfway by Saturday night. Trimmed and pressed.
I was calling myself "The Lone Chainer" at this point. I cut apart 10 at a time so I could double check my numbers and then line them up in rows of 5 to cut those bonus HSTs.

Here are all my little soldiers all pressed and accounted for.

They are back in the box with their brothers and sisters awaiting further orders.

Midnight Clear sashing made

I got all of the blocks for this Midnight Clear quilt.

The sashing is so tedious! But look at it!! It was worth it.

Sashing and 9 patch corner stones. I just got them up on the wall and will probably sew them tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I used all kinds of greens for the sashing. The pattern only used one green.  I love the variety of greens I used, it gives so much interest compared to the pattern. I also mixed up the reds in the 9 patches.

Mini tree quilt

This is a mini quilt that measures 9 x 12. I made it from leftover HSTs from my sister's quilt. She didn't want the scraps from her quilt so I kept them. I saw a tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Co. for a very large tree quilt using a Layer Cake. I scaled it down and used what I had. I also made a little pinwheel for the star on the top. I quilted it with my domestic and walking foot.

This is the fabric from my sister's quilt. A modern color palette for Christmas.

I quilted it for her with my longarm.

Here's the back. The stitching shows up so great with this cuddle type of fabric. It's a light mint green. I really love how this turned out.

Good Fortune part 2

I'm working on Part 2 of Bonnie Hunter's GOOD FORTUNE MYSTERY QUILT ALONG.
The instructions for this scrappy quilt are FREE. You can visit her blog to get them every Friday.
Quilville.blogspot.com
She has a link up every Monday. Please click on the link below to see everyone's progress on this colorful quilt and get inspired.
Here are my Purple and gray HSTs. I power sewed them last night.

I don't have Bonnie's ruler so I do mine the old fashioned way.
Power slicing here.

I line up my drawn lines on a line on my cutting mat and overlap them a bit.

Then cut them apart. It took me 15 minutes to cut the huge stack.

Here are a few ironed and trimmed. Only a zillion to go. When I figure out a short cut for ironing I'll let you know! I do hold about 4 in my hand at one and trim the dog ears.

Good Fortune Mystery quilt

I got started today on Bonnie Hunter's Good Fortune Mystery Quilt. Here are a few of my 4 patches.
You can join in this mystery quilt by getting her instructions from her blog.
See link at bottom of this post.
More strips cut and ready to sew.

Miles of chain pieced strips.

Pairing and cutting them and placing them on a dollar store poster board so I can take them to my sewing machine. I have lots more to cut. Please visit Bonnie's link up to see more inspiration and maybe start your own Good Fortune. Just click on the link below.

Temecula Secret Santa Mystery with borders

The blocks of the Mystery quilt with the sashing added.
The sashing is all words. The instructions called for sashing and then just binding. But I thought it needed something more.

So I added a red border. Still wasn't happy with it. So I added a 10 inch border to that.
This turned out to be a Twin size quilt.  So I'm calling this quilt "Santa crisscrossing the snowy sky".

These Santa Heads are large and I didn't want to cut them off so that is why I kept the border extra large. I have enough of the Santa fabric to use on the back.

Good Fortune quilt along

This is my fabric pull for the 2018 Mystery quilt by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville.com blog.
She hosts a new Mystery quilt every year starting on Black Friday.
This one is called "Good Fortune". She gives you color suggestions and amounts. I changed the colors to what I had on hand. It's going to be a vibrant spring quilt.

These are my neutrals which are all in the light gray family. Most of them are super old. I'm glad I'll be using them and getting them out of my stash.
