I saw a USA quilt on Pinterest and just loved it. So I figured I could cut all my states out with my Silhouette machine.
I started out with a Layer Cake of American Jane fabric. I love these retro fabrics. I just figured out which states I could fit together on one 10 inch square.
Then you start roughly placing them on the design wall where you think they go. Much adjusting was made to get them into proper position and nesting them together like a puzzle.
Then I figured out how big I wanted my background and found a fabric to compliment the states.
I fused them all in place with my fingers crossed. Ha. Then I outlined them all in black thread.
I used a wavy stitch from my built in stitches on my domestic to quilt the background. I then found an old American Jane yellow fabric for the binding. (not shown here)
I did not put Alaska or Hawaii on this quilt as I will not be driving to either of those states. Ha.
