I decided to cut up green, blue, aqua and purple scraps into 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 inch squares. I wanted to make a scrap quilt out of these with a low volume background. I didn't know what it was going to be when it grew up. I put random color 1.5 squares together into 4 patches. I didn't like the mixed colors. I then just kept the colors the same in the 4 patches.
I made a lot of double 4 patches. I love them on point and thought it looked like rain.
It evolved as I sewed. The ideas just kept coming.
I got tired of making all of those tiny 4 patches so I made some larger ones using one color. They were going faster and I was running out of the larger low volumes anyway.
I clustered the larger 4 patches at the bottom and thought it looked like puddles. So then it evolved into gray clouds at the top. I decided to use the larger 4 patches on the sides too.
I had an ombre fabric that went from light aqua to navy and used it for my setting triangles.
I would change it up next time and make it wider. I used the ombre as my binding also.
I think the quilting design is Pearls of Desire by Anne Bright
Here's this back.

What a delightful improv adventure. It is so pretty and it sounds like it was a lot of fun to make.
