Old truck panel

I used a random snowflake design in the background for this quilt.

I quilted this for my friend. I used a dark gray thread for most of it.

She used a gray flannel for the border. It looks like velvet with the quilting.

She got the panel from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  It's digitally printed. The detail is amazing.

 I want one. I want this one actually since I already quilted it.

I put some straight lines in the buildings for the planks.

Here's a full view after all the quilting.

I put a cotton candy design on the roofs using white thread. I free motion quilted the snow mounds.

A Custom Quilting Finish for At The Seashore Quilt

This quilt is my version of At The Seashore by Moda Bake Shop. 

It was their summer quilt along for 2019. Free Blocks and settings were given over the summer.

This is a view of the bottom half. It turned out 108 x 96 inches.

I custom quilted it. I designed this bird and grass row myself.

I custom quilted the cat tails and grass and bugs.

This quilting design fit these blocks perfectly.

I put rope in this row of blocks.

The buoy row was my favorite one to piece. I loved picking out the different fabrics for this. 

Simply quilted with a wave design.

This is the middle section of the quilt.

This is the top section of the quilt. I had to fold it in half and clamp it to the railing.

This quilt started out with these twin pop blocks.

Here are the flying geese. I took a quilting design apart and tweaked it to be a continuous design for these blocks. 

The border view. It was tedious. I had to do one section at a time. The flower border has a cotton candy design that I used in the background of the twin pops too.

Here are my paper pieced snails trails waves. I tweaked a swirl design to fit in these blocks.

At the Seashore Quilt along

My first twin pops block for the Moda Bake Shop Quilt along. I got started late on this project because I was out of town when it began.  It's a free project. You pick your setting first then you make your blocks.  I chose a setting but I'm changing it a bit. 

I have decided to make mine a row quilt using multiples of just a few block designs.

Here are my blocks for 2 rows. They are supposed to get sashing.

I decided that I was going to make wave blocks at the start of the quilt along. I paper pieced these.

Then they came out with the Buoy block. I had much fun making these. The fish was hanging on my design wall for a year. It insisted on being added to this quilt.

I still have to add water onto the bottom of all the buoys then sew them together. It's been a challenge adhering to this color combination but I'm really liking it now that I've done the buoys.

"Patriotic Sparkler" 2019

It all started off with a few Red and Blue scraps from previous projects. Add in the White from a neighbor and I made a prototype block from the pattern Chelsea that I made a few months ago.

Here are 4 blocks together.

Here are the same 4 blocks turned around. It forms a circular pattern.

I thought it needed something more. Way too much white space.

I decided to sew a random piece on an angle to each block. I thought it looked like a fan blade star. The blades are all different sizes.

Here is my design board starting to fill up with blocks. I made all the quadrants of the blocks first then I sewed the blades on the corners.

All the blocks are finished and floral border added.

I attended Handi Quilter Academy in the Salt Lake City area in June. I learned a lot about altering quilting patterns with my pro stitcher software and Art n Stitch program. Here I am putting my new knowledge to work on this quilt.

"Drum Roll, Please"!

When I hung it up to take these photos I just said "Wow".

Here's the back. This was a fabric that my neighbor gave me.

 I didn't purchase anything for this quilt except for batting. 

You can see the border design here and the corner of the block.

The custom quilting created a secondary design where the block corners came together. It shows up great on the back.

Granny Square quilt

I've been wanting to make a Granny Square quilt for a while. I started with a jelly roll that my friend Kari gave me a few years ago. Sweet from Urban Chiks. My other friend Jen gave me the cantaloupe solid fabric. 

The blocks waste a lot of fabric. Here are the blocks trimmed up to 9 inches.

30 blocks on the design wall.

I had a lot of extra jelly roll strips left after making the blocks so I decided to make a border.  This required math.

I cut  the strips into 2.5 inch segments and sewed them on an angle.

 They turned out pretty even. 

Quilted with a swirl design edge to edge.

The back.

I used an ombre mint green binding.  All done.
