Free motion quilt practice

I was doing a little practice so that I could sew the Birdie Stitches.

This was a block of the month embroidery stitch along. It was free back in 2011 I believe. I did all of the blocks but never put them together. So I decided that I would now make them into mini wall hangings that I can change out every month for my sewing studio. I used the free motion practice above to prepare myself for quilting this.

Sew mini wall hanging

I made this for my sewing room from the pattern by CluckCluckSew.

I made this wall hanging first for my friend.

Mini Valentine wall hanging

This was a free pattern from CluckCluckSew for Valentine's Day.

I cross hatch quilted it.

I love that I put some black in it. I bound it with the same black. I gave this to my son and his girlfriend for their apartment.
I had to make another one for me. I have it hanging in my sewing room year round.

Grit's Plaid quilt

I cut up assorted plaids for this quilt.  Some of the fabrics are very old and some are about 2 years old.  I used a grungy looking tan for the background.

Here are a few sample blocks that I sewed to make sure I had my measurements right.

It's coming together here.

I was trying out some different border options here.

This is the finished design. I used some extra bear paws in the border corners. I just love how this turned out. A quilt on pinterest was my inspiration.

Tumbling Charms quilt

I was at my friend's house and laid this out on her design wall. It is a design from the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I used 2 charm packs of Marmalade by Bonnie and Camille.

Here it is put together with the orange floral border. I love the border fabric. This was a super fast quilt to put together. The pre cuts help it go fast.

Plaid quilt for Justin

I saw a similar quilt that I liked and tried to imitate it. I used plaids and solids for the centers.

This is a simple square block. You can make it any size you want.

I had extras squares left over so I added some into the borders near the corners. They remind me of a filmstrip.
All put together - just needing quilting.
