Moda Love Layer cake quilt

So I jumped on the bandwagon with this "Moda Love" quilt. I've been seeing versions of it all over my facebook groups. It was a free pattern from Moda Bake Shop Blog. In fact I think it was a quilt along. The instructions were posted at the end of January.  I put it together in one day. I used a white layer cake and a batik layer cake that has been aging nicely in a drawer. Here is my first layout. 

A little out of balance with the dark blue corner.

So I had enough Aqua squares to make 2 Aqua corners. Moved the blue to the middle. 

More balanced.

Then I took the green out. It got rather dull and boring.

Switched it up a bit here. Which one do you like best? After I quilt and bind it I'll do a reveal.

I need to figure out a backing first though.

This is my Remembering Cheri block of the month for February. 

It's from a Facebook group I belong to.

This is Jan and Feb next to each other. They haven't given us the assembly instructions yet. I still need March and April blocks to finish it. This sew along started last May.

Sweet Land assembly September

I changed my blocks for September. I made a sunflower block that was 6 inches wide. I had to add a strip to the side to make it wide enough to match up with the leaf and bird blocks. I changed the other angel block to a watermelon with crow. It needs something else in the blank area. He needs legs embroidered as well. 

Meanwhile-I haven't seen this counter in 9 months. I have to have a repair to the ceiling so I had to put all of my fabric away. I have a ridiculous amount of fabric. I really need to sew faster. Ha.

Remembering Cheri July Block

I love this Uncle Sam. I gave him longer legs than in the original design.

Changed his beard mustache slightly-made it one piece. The pie fabric has tiny stars on it. I put a cherry on top. I think it was supposed to be a button on his shirt but the beard covered the shirt.

Remembering Cheri May block

On the Facebook group for Cheri Payne there is a block of the month called "Remembering Cheri". Cheri was a quilt designer who passed away recently and the group is hosting a quilt along. This is the first block. It started in May.
