Secret Santa Sew along

I started this Sew-A-Long yesterday. I was a week behind because I was out of town.
Temecula quilt company is hosting this one.
I had to make 12 of these blocks.
Here they are stacked up. This is a mystery quilt.
They are posting directions on their blog every Friday. Here is my progress for the second week of instructions. Sew strips combinations.

Cut them into 3 patches.
I got them all cut. Now I have to sew them into 9 patches and then I will be caught up until next Friday when they give us the next instructions. Anyone can do this. It is free.

Merrily Quilt Kit

I bought this quilt kit at Road2California last January.
I started cutting it October 6th 2018.

Made some progress on the trees.

Have 2 rows together.

Long shot of the first 2 rows.

I quilted it with snowflakes all over.

I finished quilting it on Oct 15th.

I bought a flannel sheet set on clearance at Target after Christmas last year. I washed the sheet before quilting it to allow for shrinkage. It's so soft. BONUS - it came with 2 pillowcases! I put the quilt in one of the pillowcases and gifted it to my great nephew.
Quilt was gifted on Oct. 20, 2018.

Binding came with the kit.

I have a lot of extra animals from the panel that came in the kit so I think I will make something else out of those.

I had to make a lot of labels for this one.  There were so many different sized pieces.
It took me 10 days to sew, quilt and bind entire quilt.

Some Fall works

This is called "Autumn Wools" by Cheri Payne. I don't have the pattern so I just drew my own. I cut a bunch of 1 inch strips for the 4 log cabin blocks. I was trying out different bindings in this photo. This is the one I went with.

My sister gave me a book many years ago. ( Maybe 15) It had this scarecrow pattern in it. I completely changed it to my own layout. I made this as a gift for my niece.

This one is my own design. I used the scraps from the first quilt up top to make the checkerboard. These squares are half an inch.

This is a tiny quilt.

I quilted this one for my friend.

Here's the back of it.

Halloween Gallery

I made the witch's hats wall hanging 2 weeks ago.

I thought there was room for more just above the thermostat.

So this is what I came up with.  It measures 6 x 6 inches.

He's next to his other cat buddy.

Sweet Land of Liberty - Together at Last

I found a place for the Liberty Bell. My friend suggested putting it on the flag. I like it.

I feel like I landed on the moon when I stuck this flag in the watermelon. Ha.

The bottom half of the piece is all together.

Welcome to the neighborhood! The 3 house blocks- I shaved a little off the chimney piece at the top and added a sky strip across all of them. I did 2 star blocks and 2 filler blocks to make the row fit across.

Admiring, admiring. Pondering a border around flying geese side and bottom just so I can stabilize all those little seams. I'll stay stitch the other sides for sure.

Sailboats finished Oct.2,2018

I finished this UFO that I had sitting in a bin for 6 or 7 years. It was a kit. The pattern was designed by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. The pattern is called Deep Blue Sea. 2009 Ha-maybe it's older.

Computer quilted with a water meander design with a cream thread.

It quilted up really fast and only used less than 2 bobbins.

It looks like billowing sails.

The back is a watery seaweedish fabric.

Binding all done by machine for durability and laziness. I don't care for hand binding on large quilts. I would put it off forever and then this quilt would be waiting another 10 years to get finished. I will occasionally hand bind a wall hanging.

Sweet Land of Liberty Aug progress

I want to give a shout out to Lori of Humble Quilts for hosting this quilt a long. She is posting the final instructions today.  Ten months in the making.

I really changed it up this month. I used this sunflower block from Lori Holt's book Farm Girl Vintage.
I made my own watermelon block with crow. I might stick a flag in the watermelon. I got this section together but I was waiting for the final instructions to complete the bottom so I could get it all together. It's been fun.
