Charity quilting

Last month I joined a Charity group that makes quilts for kids. The leader of the group kept handing me things like some of these 6 inch squares. I cut up a few more from fabric I had and fabric that my neighbor gave me. One kids quilt coming up.

We were given a butterfly pattern to make applique blocks that will be incorporated into scrap quilts. I made these 3 with left over white layer cake squares and some scraps.

This one isn't very pretty but it is colorful.

This was a panel that they gave me. I added some borders.

I quilted it. I made binding.

Here's another one that I used my fabrics on. It's ocean themed.

I call it "Fish Farts" lots of bubbles. I quilted it.

This one is now quilted and the back of it is Noah's ark fabric.

The backing of the quilt below.

This someone else pieced with Christmas fabric strips. I got the backing from my neighbor. I quilted and bound this one.

Flamingo collage and mermaid baby quilt

My sisters visited for a week. My oldest sister is now quilting a lot. She arrived with this Flamingo quilt. She only had the flamingo finished. I helped her with the leaves and suggested how to do the water.  I quilted it with an edge to edge design then free handing the waves and grass leaves.

She made the humming bird out of snips of fabric. She cut out all of these flowers and layered them for the feathers.

This is the back of the flamingo quilt.

She made this Mermaid baby quilt also. It was her own design. She had this fabric for a few years. She gave it to me and I gave it back to her. She finally used it.

We got the flannel backing from Joanne's.

Make up bag and placemats

My friend asked me to make her a make up bag about 2 years ago. Her birthday was coming up so I finally got it made. Here's a picture of the inside. I made a pocket.

This fabric is so adorable-fruit ladies. I don't know the actual name of the fabric. I've had it for a few years now.

I free motion quilted with 2 layers of scrap batting on my domestic machine.

I found these 2 fabrics at Joanne's this weekend on sale. I knew I would make placemats with it.

Here's the other side. I made 4 placemats. They are oversized about 16 x 19 inches. I used one yard of each fabric and 2 layers of scrap batting. It's a great way to use up long narrow pieces of batting. I bought a yard of star fabric for the binding.

Doll swap quilt received

I received my cute doll quilt last week but my sisters were visiting and keeping me so busy that I didn't have a chance to post this before today.

Thanks to Jessica for this darling little quilt. She even embroidered the label.

I think she long armed this like I did for mine. I love the colors she picked.

Chef placemats

My husband has been telling me for a while that I need to meet my neighbors up the street. So I went and met them about 2 weeks ago. A very nice couple. Ruth is a quilter. She called me last week for me to come over to go through some fabric that was donated to her group. I got this Chef panel from her. I used every speck of it to make 4 placemats and this small table runner. I added the black solid strips from my stash.

The back is from my stash as well as the dot binding.

I quilted the placemats on the longarm with 2 layers of scrap batting. It's a great way to use up smaller strips of batting.

The quilt design is a spade looking design. Here's the 4 of them together.
