Navajo Code Talkers Finish

Here's a close up of quilting that is hard to see.

This is the back of the quilt where you can see the quilting design better. I should have used black batting as there is a lot of bearding in the stitches.

Here's a view of most of the blocks. I want to make another one but more accurately with my own measurements.  Some of the blocks I made on my own without the pattern.  I think this would turn out awesome in solids.

Andy's Flannel Quilt

This quilt is made of flannels that I bought at least 10 years ago at a local quilt show.  I finally used it and I finally made a quilt for my youngest brother who is turning 50 this year. I added more black for the border and I have a second border to add then I will quilt it.

Pretty left over HST quilt

These star blocks are 4 inches including the half inch border around each star.

I just straight machine quilted it.

Here's a look at the back. I'm giving this to my friend for her birthday this month.  We are getting together on Friday so I will surprise her with it.

Birthday card

I made this cute little birthday card enclosure for 2 girls at work and I gave them each a card wallet.

Quilt for Linda

I made this quilt out of my brother's shirts for his girlfriend Linda. My brother died unexpectedly in January 2014. She was devastated as we all were.  His name was on his work shirts and I have one little square that I cut out and put on it with his name.  The quilt turned out so much better than I anticipated. I just have to get it quilted.  I ordered a special backing for it. I can't wait to send it to her.

Quilt for Emily

I just finished this quilt. The pattern was free from Moda bake shop.

I matched the back so well you can't even tell where the seam is.

The back of the quilt.

Here's a close up of the quilting.

Vivian's pillows

My friend Vivian retired from the hospital so I made her 2 pillows. She loved them. She was such a nice person. She was always so pleasant. Loved her.

I used 2 mini charm packs for these pillows and some yardage. I loved how they turned out.

I made my own buttons.

This was literally the first time I ever made button holes. They turned out great. I was so impressed with myself. So pretty.

Here they are stuffed.

I used K-mart pillows to stuff them. It is a super cheap way to go. I did simple machine quilting on both of them.

The 1990's called and want their quilt finished!

Check this out!  I started this probably in 1988.  I got it out and worked on it twice since then. I have to finish the log cabin blocks.

Look at these calico fabrics. I could gag. So not my style right now. I lost the directions to this long, long ago.

That is why it never got finished. I googled it and found the quilt but not the directions. I'm going to wing it to finish it.

Kids sewing

I came up with my own pattern for this little apron for a 3 year old. It turned out adorable.

I saw this teabag idea on pinterest. I made them for the same 3 year old.

Navajo Code Talkers Quilt

It's coming together.

All the blocks are done.

More Navajo Code Talkers strips

I really like the triangle and postage stamp strips.

The bottom is a basket but I didn't put the handles on.

Navajo Code Talkers Quilt

As soon as I saw this pattern in the Keepsake Quilting catalog I showed it to my husband and he liked it. I ordered it immediately.  I went to my annual retreat in March and started working on the strips.
The pattern was disappointing because it was not very accurate. It said to just add fabric at the end of the strip to make it fit.

I love this fabric line. It's called Snowman Gatherings. I bought a jelly roll and added a few of my own fabrics and made this Triple Irish Chain quilt that was a free pattern from my local quilt shop. The blocks are 14 inches square.

It only has 2 blocks for the entire quilt.

It turned out quite large.

The center squares were all the same and the outer squares are random.

Pineapple quilt

Keep looking at this...you are getting very sleepy. It is somewhat hypnotizing. This one has been sitting around for at least 6 years.

Finally got it quilted. This was not that hard to do at all. But it is not one of my favorite finishes.

This is a floral fabric that I used for the binding. It is not one of my favorites either but it looks great as a binding for this quilt because it has all of the same colors. Flannel fabric on the back.

Valentine quilt

This is another one of those quilts that have been laying around unfinished because I am too lazy to piece the backing together.  I took this one to the long armer and I thought I had the back pieced together but she said she had to do the piecing. I was so embarrassed that I just took her the fabric.  She said it was no big deal.  She did a great job.

This was a new design that she just got. Hearts and swirls. It turned out great. I had it in time for this past Valentine's day. It's one of my largest quilts so far.

This is a photo of the back of the quilt which is flannel. The binding is black with red lips.

Joey's quilt

I finally gave Joey his quilt that has been in the making for many years. The quilt top was a mystery quilt that required only 2 fabrics. I used 2 flannels. I had the top done very quickly and it just sat for years until I got the backing together and took it to get quilted. I am working on getting tops quilted. I aim to have them all done soon. I guess the worst part of a quilt is sewing the backing together.

Baby Quilt for Barrett

Close up of name quilted into border.

Lucy's Crab shack fabric line. I used one jelly roll plus extra for border and scrappy binding.

I straight stitched a quarter inch on each side of the seam.  FMQ kite tails in border.
