This is how the above placemat started out. Find some random strips in the approximate same length. Sew them together and trip to even them up. Add a few more larger pieces, throw a word on and quilt and bind. Scrappy binding too. I'm going through the scraps like crazy. 

Kids aprons

I've been meaning to sew a couple of aprons for my great niece and nephew. I finally did it this week. I didn't have a pattern I just winged it. Put a pocket on the nephew's apron.

I put a ruffle on the niece's apron. I also curved the bib part of the apron.

They turned out pretty cute. I hope they fit okay.

Easter Pillow

These are scraps that I cut to 1.5 inches, then sewed them together into a large rectangle. I used my silhouette machine to size the bunny design and I printed it. Then I used heat and bond to make the bunny applique.

I used my silhouette machine to cut the letters out of fabric. My blade was dull so I had to snip some parts by hand. I made 5 eggs and put 2 layers of batting and one layer of tear away interfacing on the back side and did a zig zag stitch around them to make them puffy. Turned it all into a pillow. 

Easter Wreath wallhanging

 I threw this together last weekend. I used some scraps and some new Easter fabric that I got on sale at Hancock. The pink dot was on clearance. I used it for the bow and binding.

 I machine quilted it with my regular foot.

I used this Easter Egg fabric from Hancock for the back. It's very bright. There's the pink binding. I hung it up as soon as it was done.

Placemats

 I used nothing but scraps for these placemats. Scrap batting, scrap binding and scrap bits and pieces for the random piecing.

I did random quilting as well. I used my silhoutte machine to cut the letters. I made them one day for my friend at work for her birthday. I gave them to her to use at lunch time. She took them home and said they were too nice to use at work. I thought that was a very nice compliment. 

Pillow

I silk screened this pillow for my friend for Christmas. She is an avid reader and she is retired so she stays up till all hours of the night reading. I saw this phrase on pinterest I think.

Christmas tree panel

 This was a Christmas tree panel that was in a stack of Christmas fat quarters. I added white, then the candy cane stripe.

 Here I added a second white, then random lengths of green strips. then green with red squares and finally longer green strips as the final border. I love how it turned out.

I think I'm going to quilt this one myself as it is a manageable size to work with. 

Christmas Cactus Quilt

 I started this quilt before Christmas and finished piecing before Christmas too. I went together really fast. It's a queen size. I have to make a backing for it and have it quilted.

This is a view of it with the borders. I used the reds and greens from a Christmas fat quarter stack and some other greens and reds too. 

Plaid quilt

 I saw a photo of a plaid quilt in a magazine and I figured "I can make that".  I gathered fabrics. You need a large quantity of background fabric. I probably had 2 yards. I cut large rectangles from the light fabric then I cut strips of blue. I cut the background rectangles maybe 3 inches up from the bottom and sewed on the blue strip and sewed the cut off background back on to the blue strip. 

 Then I cut sliced off about 3 inches on the left side of the blocks and put in a different blue strip of a different width.  

I did that a total of 2 vertical cuts and 2 horizontal cuts. The last blue strip was skinny and it was my sashing and I used it vertically and horizontally.  I love how it turned out. I think I will quilt it myself with straight lines to mimic a plaid design.

Feathered Star

 Here is another finish from probably 17 years ago. I was in a Christmas quilting club. This was one of our projects that I never had quilted until now.  I have the binding on and the swirl quilting is fantastic. 

I need to get better at taking photos.

 This is the back of the quilt.  I just got this fabric to finish it. I love how the swirls are in the quilt top fabric from 17 years ago too.  I'm keeping this one for my square coffee table. It could be a wall hanging as well.

Saw blade quilt

This quilt project was given to me by a friend about 11 years ago. She had put together 3 rows of blocks and then grew bored with it. She told me she didn't like it.  I finally finished it and had it quilted in a large stipple. I am giving it to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law who live in Canada. It is very fitting because the fabric has moose in it. 

I put wide brown flannel on the back. My husband is going to visit them this week. I really love how quick and easy this goes together. I see another one of these in my future.

Flower quilt

I threw this together this week from some left over jelly roll strips. It went together so fast.

The pattern is from the book "Scrap-Basket Sensations" This is the second quilt that I made from this book.  It's a great book with easy quick patterns.

Penn state pillowcases

I made 2 pillow cases for my nephew who is a freshman at Penn State this year. I found the cute fabric online at Hancock Fabrics.

Wine Festival table cloth

This quilt was a UFO. These blocks are picnic baskets made with grape fabrics. I think the pattern was from a magazine. It's been so long that I can't remember.

I made this for my brother and his wife for their annual Wine Festival event. I satin stitched around all the baskets.

I actually made a label for it.

The back has more grape fabric. I mailed it last week and they got it on Tuesday this week. They love it.

Honor Quilt for J&J 2014

My sister texted me to see if I would make another quilt for her work. I thought I was off the hook after the last one I made.  NOT!  I pulled this small quilt top out of a drawer and threw a border on it.

Let's call this another finish!! yeah.  I used leftover binding from another quilt plus I added some binding to that. Using up the scraps!  The border was leftover too.

They sell spots to write on to honor cancer patients they know or who have passed away.  I portioned off the borders so they can write on them.

I used a super cheap, thin, donated to me white fabric for the back.  I used leftover batting and sewed it together.  A total make do quilt.  I whipped this out in one day including quilting and binding.  I'm also giving 3 sets of pillow cases that they will put in baskets and raffle off.

Stitch Bible

I'm taking a class on Craftsy called Stupendous Stitches. You have to make a "Stitch Bible" out of all of the stitches on your machine.  I have been loving this because it's a way to use up all of those almost gone threads and bobbins. 

Some of these stitches I will probably never use.  Some of them are really cool.  I have been stitching the default first and then varying the width and length of the stitches as instructed. You have to lower your tension as well. I have over 200 stitches on my machine and I am only in the 130's.  I have a ways to go.  I didn't use any of the button stitches.

This is the back of the quilt where you can see the quilting design better. I should have used black batting as there is a lot of bearding in the stitches.

Here's a view of most of the blocks. I want to make another one but more accurately with my own measurements.  Some of the blocks I made on my own without the pattern.  I think this would turn out awesome in solids.

Andy's Flannel Quilt

This quilt is made of flannels that I bought at least 10 years ago at a local quilt show.  I finally used it and I finally made a quilt for my youngest brother who is turning 50 this year. I added more black for the border and I have a second border to add then I will quilt it.

Pretty left over HST quilt

These star blocks are 4 inches including the half inch border around each star.  

I just straight machine quilted it.

Here's a look at the back. I'm giving this to my friend for her birthday this month.  We are getting together on Friday so I will surprise her with it.
